General Direction

September 22, 2006

Looking at http://www.castleproject.org, they have a bunch of sub projects under the Castle banner.  Most of the larger projects are presented clearly, but others, like Aspect#, seem hidden.  It would be nice if we could clearly delineate which projects we have and make them able to independently update content for the website that wouldn’t affect the rest.  (Mikey, that means you have to figure out what you’re coding!!)

It would also be nice if we also had a way to incorporate some of the non dev content, like actually playing the game, character profiles, or whatever, that the larger D&D group could also use.  Like how Duma almost died twice in one sitting would be a good one, or how Taeghen will become our new tank.  How that would happen, I don’t really know, but having that would be nice.  GotDotNet is good for storing the files from the sessions (aka. player characters), but the forums and news are really crude.

Code Uploaded to CodePlex!

Put up what I had as far as the code.  Yeah, finally.  If you’re doing this from home, you may need to configure Team Explorer.  CodePlex has some good docs on that.

Priorities

September 9, 2006

Well, now that we have this blog and created a project on CodePlex, we can at least put all our ideas down somewhere in one place.  I guess with all this, we’ll have to determine where to start.

I was thinking every month we’d have a release, and at the beginning of that release we’d determine what is going to go in there.  It’s not intended as a deadline, so much as a goal to work towards.  So our release is just a bucket of stuff to deliver and our tasks that we want to work on are just things to put in the bucket.  Similar to the XP’s planning game, in fact, the more I think about it, that’s exactly what I’m thinking of.

Anyway, for this release I would like to focus on our spell list conversion.  I already have a working model for what we need to import, but I need to run it through a bunch of data to ensure it can work with all of it.  We need this to get worked out, since we will need the data later on, and it would be nice to customize a printable spell list.

Mikey said he’s working on some of the front-end to get the initiative list set.  He’ll probably be the one to start creating some of the classes in Kenthall.Common, since that list will need a bunch of classes from there.

Hello world!

September 9, 2006

Our first post on our blog!  We’ll be using this to keep track of out thoughts and ideas, but also to keep the other members of the team informed about what’s going on in the project.

I created some catagories for us, but feel free to add any more that crop up.
